HARASSMENT

Our policy is that all employees of SMSE Federal Credit Union work in an environment free of harassment by other employees or by other people with whom they have employment-based contact and that there be no retaliation against employees who report incidents of harassment. We insist our employees refrain from harassing other employees. SMSE Federal Credit Union will not tolerate an intimidating, hostile, or offensive work environment caused by unlawful harassment. Harassment includes all forms of unlawful harassment, including, but not limited to, that based on sex, race, age, or national origin. Harassment is prohibited through any means of communication, including, but not limited to, electronic communication systems such as computers (including E-Mail), fax machines, copiers, telephones (including voice mail), etc. Our supervisors are responsible for enforcing this policy by preventing or remedying any harassment.

In particular, the EEOC defines sexual harassment as:

"Unwelcomed sexual advances, requests for sexual favors, and other verbal or physical conduct of a sexual nature constitutes sexual harassment when (1) submission to such conduct is made either explicitly or implicitly a term or condition of an individual’s employment, (2) submission to or rejection of such conduct by an individual is used as the basis for employment decisions affecting such individual, or (3) such conduct has the purpose or affect of unreasonably interfering with an individuals’ work performance or creating an intimidating, hostile, or offensive working environment."

You should report perceived harassment to the president/CEO of SMSE Federal Credit Union. We will investigate all employee complaints of harassment. Our investigation will respect the privacy of the complaining employee and the accused employee to the extent possible. SMSE Federal Credit Union will take prompt corrective action to remedy and to stop confirmed harassment. We will discipline, up to and including discharge, an employee who engages in harassment in violation of this policy.
